A parent sets up the app and gives consent. Your child’s voice is used only to hold the call. We keep no recordings and show no advertising. You can withdraw consent and delete your child’s data at any time.
01Who we are
Santa Calls is an iPhone app in which a child has a live voice conversation with Santa. It is operated by Kroonverse, Talent Square 62, 5038 LX Tilburg, the Netherlands. Kroonverse is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].
The app is set up and managed by a parent or legal guardian. Children do not create accounts, make purchases or share anything with other users. Santa is an AI voice, not a person.
02What we collect
What you tell us about your child
A first name and age, and, if you choose, gender, interests, something they are proud of and a reason for the call. You type these in. They are saved on your iPhone and sent to our service only when a call starts. Please use a first name or nickname, and leave out surnames, schools, addresses, contact details and health information.
During a call
Your child’s voice and what they say are processed live so Santa can listen and answer. The microphone is used only during a call and only after you allow it. We do not identify a child by voice and do not create a voiceprint.
When you give parental consent
You confirm consent with Sign in with Apple. We keep a one-way reference to that Apple Account, which cannot be turned back into your Apple ID, and the email address Apple shares with us, which may be a private relay address. We use the address to send you a confirmation of your consent.
Purchases
Apple handles payment. We receive Apple’s transaction identifiers and keep a record of the calls you bought and used. We never receive your card details.
Records that make the app work
A random identifier for this installation of the app, Apple’s confirmation that the request comes from a genuine copy of the app, your consent status with its date and policy version, and short-lived authorisations for each call. The installation identifier is pseudonymous: it does not name you, but it links these records together.
How the app is performing
We count events such as completed setups, purchases and finished or failed calls, as daily totals. These totals contain no names, profile details, audio or conversation content.
This website and email
The companies that host this website process IP addresses, requested pages and browser information to deliver and protect it. The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. If you email us, we receive your address and your message. Please do not send recordings or details about your child that we do not need.
03How we use it
- To hold the Santa call you asked for and make it personal.
- To record your parental consent and stop calls when consent is missing or withdrawn.
- To check that requests come from the real app and to prevent fraud and misuse.
- To provide the calls you bought and to handle refunds and support.
- To see whether the app works reliably.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not show advertising, share information for advertising, or build advertising profiles. We do not use your child’s voice or conversation for anything other than the call itself.
04What stays on your phone
Child profiles and saved call plans are stored on your iPhone until you change or delete them. We do not keep a copy of them on our servers. Your iPhone backups may include app data, depending on your Apple settings.
When a call starts, the details for that call and the live audio travel over encrypted connections from your iPhone, through our server, to Google’s Gemini service. Santa’s voice comes back the same way.
Kroonverse does not save recordings or transcripts of Santa calls. Our server passes the audio along while the call is in progress and keeps none of it afterwards.
05Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that help us run the service. Each of them processes it on our behalf, under an agreement that requires them to protect it and to use it only for that purpose.
- Google (Gemini on Google Cloud)
- Understands what is said and produces Santa’s voice. Receives the details for the call and the live audio.
- Render
- Hosts our server and database. Call audio passes through the server; the database holds the consent, purchase and security records described above.
- Apple
- Provides Sign in with Apple, payment and refunds, app verification and the App Store. Apple also processes information under its own terms.
- Cloudflare
- Hosts this website, sends the consent confirmation email and forwards email sent to our contact address.
- Google (Gmail)
- Stores the messages you send to our contact address.
We do not share personal information with anyone else, unless the law requires it or it is necessary to protect someone’s safety. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics software.
06What Google keeps
Santa’s voice is produced by Google’s Gemini service. Google processes the call on our instructions and, under its service terms, does not use it to train its models.
Not saving recordings in our own app does not mean a provider keeps nothing. According to Google’s published documentation for this service, as read on 10 October 2026:
- While the service runs: Google may hold call content in working memory for up to 24 hours. This is not long-term storage.
- If a call is flagged: when Google’s automated safety systems detect possible abuse of its service, Google may store what was sent in that call for up to 90 days, only to investigate. Authorised Google staff may review it.
These are Google’s retention periods, not ours, and Google may change them. We will update this page if they change. We do not ask Google to store call sessions or to produce transcripts.
07Children’s privacy
Santa Calls is used by children under 13 together with a parent. We follow the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the European data protection rules for children.
Consent comes first. Before a child’s first call, the app shows you what information is involved and asks for your permission. We obtain verifiable parental consent: you confirm with Sign in with Apple, which requires Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode, and we email you a confirmation that explains how to withdraw. A checkbox alone is not accepted.
What we collect from your child is their voice and what they say during a call, used only to hold that call. We do not ask a child for an address, school, contact details or any other information beyond the conversation, and you do not have to provide more than a first name and age for your child to take part.
Your rights as a parent. You can see what you have saved about your child, change or delete it, and withdraw your consent at any time, in the app under Settings and Parental Consent, or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent stops further calls. If you believe a child’s information has been given to us without a parent’s permission, tell us and we will delete it.
Please stay nearby during a call, and end any conversation you are not comfortable with.
08How long we keep it
- Child profiles and call plans: on your iPhone until you delete them. Not kept on our servers.
- Call audio and conversation: not kept by us. Google’s own periods are described above.
- Consent confirmation (the Apple Account reference and email address): until you withdraw consent or delete your child’s data. Then we delete them.
- Consent status and date: for as long as this installation’s record exists, as proof of your choice. We delete it when you ask us to.
- Purchase records: for seven years, as Dutch tax law requires. Calls you have bought do not expire.
- Call authorisations and app verification: these expire within minutes and are kept only as long as needed to prevent reuse and fraud.
- Daily totals: these contain no personal information.
- Email you send us: for as long as needed to handle your request and meet any legal obligation.
Deleting your child’s data in the app does not remove calls you have paid for. A minimal record of purchases and of the deletion itself remains, so that your unused calls stay available and a deleted record cannot be recreated.
09Your choices and rights
In the app. Under Settings you can edit or delete each child’s profile, withdraw parental consent, and delete all child data.
By email. Write to [email protected] to ask what we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to or restrict how we use it. You may also have the right to receive your information in a portable form. We answer within one month. We may ask for enough information to confirm that the request comes from the parent; please do not send identity documents unless we ask and explain how to do so safely.
Complaints. You can complain to your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Removing the app or changing phones is different from deleting your data; see the terms on purchased calls.
10Legal grounds and transfers
Where European data protection law applies, we rely on: your consent as a parent for your child’s profile, voice and conversation; our agreement with you for purchases and for providing the calls; our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, preventing fraud, running this website and answering your questions; and legal obligations for the records we must keep.
Our providers process information in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for details.
11Security and changes
Information travels over encrypted connections. The app proves to our server that it is a genuine copy before it may give consent, buy or call, and each call needs its own short-lived authorisation. Our logs do not contain names, audio or conversation content. No system is completely secure; if something goes wrong we will tell you and the authorities where the law requires it.
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and its date. If a change affects your child’s information in an important way, we will ask for your consent again before it takes effect.
